Merlin

From Susan
Merlin 10/8/2008-2/4/2017
We were not ready. We are devastated. You left us too soon. You were a one in a million Borzoi and there will never be another one like you. We were not your first home but we became your forever home. You were my heart dog and you have left a huge hole in my heart that will never heal.
I honestly believe you were born to be a therapy dog. You knew how to work a room and share your love with everyone and everything. And you always seemed to know who needed a little extra "Merlin love."
You were an amazing Ambassador for National Borzoi Rescue and the American Red Cross, and the unofficial mascot of the Southwest Michigan Talons Out Honor Flight. Nothing made you happier than visiting with the Veterans at the VA Hospital, the soldiers at the local Air National Guard Base or the lovely seniors at Woodland Terrace Assisted Living Home.
You were honored to be included in the book "Love Comes on a Leash" about Therapy dogs and was also included in the 2017 The Sighthound Project calendar.
R.I.P our sweet Merlin. You are missed.

Merlin has been adopted!

Here is our newest rescue Boy, Merlin. The hair on his eye is growing back. That is from a cat encounter.

Merlin is a two year old, neutered male Borzoi who was imported from the Czech Republic . His owner surrendered him to NBRF and his breeder has asked us to find a new and loving home for him so that is what we are going to do.

Merlin has a strong prey drive so no cats or small dogs but other large dogs are fine and of course, another Borzoi would be lovely. He is currently in a foster home in Vermont. Merlin is current on vaccinations heartworm negative and chipped. He is just stunning and a very happy boy, eager to please. A securely fenced yard is necessary with at least 5 foot fencing. We believe he would be bored as an only dog as he enjoys the company of the other Borzoi in the foster home. Remember, Merlin is only two years old and still really a puppy at heart.
