Kazimir
Kazimir
We rescued our precious Kazimir April 18, 2019. Kazimir was five months old. NBRF rescued him from the South Korean meat market. We named our new baby Kazimir which means “destroyer of peace” in Russian. We created a self-fulfilling prophecy. Kazimir was indeed a troublemaker, but in the best way.
We picked him up at Chicago O’Hare and then and there he joined our family. We introduced him to Maks and Alexis, our other NBRF rescues, who thought he was a toy: he was so small by their standards! But, they quickly realized he was one of them and that he was their new brother.
Kazi, as we called him, grew up to be a beautiful 130 pound Borzoi. His coat was gorgeous: He made quite a presence. He loved to sit on couches, inside and outside. He would come into the library every morning while I would get ready for the day. I would open the blind by the couch and Kazi would curl up and hang his head over the top of it to peek out of the window. He would watch the birds and seek out any dogs walking by followed by a string of barking to let them know he was there.
Then, in November of 2023, Kazi was diagnosed with cardiac failure where we started a regimen of 14 pills per day. The veterinarian predicted that Kazi would live for three months. He did lose hair and muscle, but he was a trooper. Kazi was a special anomaly who lived for 19 months.
Our loss of Kazimir will forever leave a hole in our hearts and in our family. Kazi was so sweet and loved to bump up against us to get a hug. Kazimir was our gentle giant. Now, he has crossed over the rainbow bridge to join Maks, Alexis, McDugall, Outburst, Brasshenge, Hey Jude and Leonid.
We love and miss all of you. Love, Mom and Dad
