Griffey aka Gatti

"His mom was returning to China and couldn’t take him. His name was Gatti at the time. He didn’t answer to that name at all though. So I asked him what his name was and he said Griffey. 😊 He’s answered to it since day 1.

Just before his mom left, he suddenly became paralyzed. He slowly improved and when I picked him up he was still very unsteady on his feet and not moving much at all. He only moved to go out and relieve himself the first few days I had him. He had to lean on one of the bushes so he wouldn’t fall over. I put his water and food dishes right next to his bed and he just laid there with his eyes open for days.

He’s continued to improve but still has wonky (scientifically speaking 😉) back legs.
NBRF did genetic testing and ruled out DM. And Griff and I have been working on getting his strength back in his hind end. He could only walk as far as the house next door once he was ready to move and he was dragging one of his back feet badly.

He can walk about 20 minutes now with no foot drag! And he even runs a little. (He actually runs better than he walks.)

It was love at first sight for me. It’s totally mutual now. He’s a total love bug and I’ve asked to adopt him."

And NBRF said yes!! It takes a special soul to open their heart to a dog with the needs Griffey presented. And there is obviously no better place for him than with you, Donna. Thank you for the dedication you've continued to show Griffey during his recovery and congratulations on beginning your Happily Ever Afters together!
