Look at me now!!

Tigger was one of the first of the Pickle Hill Borzoi to come into NBRF hands.  Below you can see the before and after pictures of this remarkable Borzoi who owns LaVonne  Novakofski in Il.

When Tigger came to us at 9 years old as you can see he was a rack of bones with sores a bulging eye and could barely stand under his own power. .  The eye was caused by pressure, was very painful to him and had to be removed.  It is clear he had received no veterinary care for a long time if ever.

What a difference 3 years of love and care make.  WOW!  Who would have ever thunk!!  Isn't Tigger beautiful?  Doesn't this just make your heart feel so good?  Does mine!  To see how these Borzoi respond to love is just amazing. LaVonne gave Tigger reason to live and love and a life he never knew possible.  He has not stopped saying Thank You!  At 12 years young, he's still saying Thank You!!

We are here to say Thank You LaVonne and Tigger. You both ROCK!!!

Tiger has been adopted

date of birth 02/10/2001

Tigar is 9 years old.  He is neutered, heart worm negative, current on all vaccinations and is microchipped.  Tigar is hypothyroid (low thyroid) and will require daily medication, however the maintenance medication is very low cost and affordable and he will come with a several month supply.  He also has had most all of his teeth removed due to tarter, infection and gum disease but is eating dry food with no problem now and loves rawhide chews!  He is missing one eye that was just removed due to blindness and high pressure in the eye itself which was causing a lot of pain.  Tigar very badly wants to be loved and is a real trooper – he has gone through a lot to get better and is making a remarkable recovery.  We   anticipate Tigar’s coat to start growing and filling in soon and hope that he will have a plush full coat to go with his wonderful full personality.

Tigar loves attention from both men and women and has been around young teenagers; however we have not had the opportunity to introduce him to small children.  He is cat safe at the veterinarian clinic, but it is unknown how he will do in a home with cats or small dogs.  He gets along well with other borzoi.

Due to the fact that he only has one eye, homes with young rambunctious dogs or children are not encouraged.

Tigar is from Pickle Hill.  Included below are pictures of Tiger in the condition he was when he came to us.  You can see he's already come a long way.

This very sweet boy is looking for a home with a soft bed, warm heart, kind hands and lots of love.  If you are interested in adopting Tigar, please fill out our adoption application and email it to Carol Backers at
